You are cordially invited to the culminating presentation of our first class of participants in The World As It Could Be Is Within REACH. This program is our Rite of Passage, developed by the leadership of the REACH Ashland Youth Center to initiate youth as vital members of our community. The program came about through the collaboration of Alameda County Health Care Services Agency and Alameda County Deputy Sheriffs’ Activities League (DSAL) and its program The World As It Could Be Human Rights Education Program (TWAICB).

The youth have been meeting every Monday since September 8th, learning about and reflecting on the importance of human rights, as well as each programmatic area of REACH — Recreation, Education, Arts, Career and Health — as vital elements of a healthy community.

On May 15th, the youth will express their ideas about what they have learned and how they will apply what they have learned in their lives. This culmination event provides an opportunity for us as community “elders” to acknowledge and celebrate the accomplishments of the youth, as well as encourage them to continue their positive engagement as leaders at REACH and in their extended communities.

Thank you for joining us and being an essential part of this Rite of Passage that benefits the participating youth and our community as a whole.

Please join us,

Pedro Naranjo, Executive Director, REACH Ashland Youth Center
Hilary Bass, Executive Director, Alameda County Deputy Sheriff’s Activities League
Sandy Sohcot, Director, The World as it Could Be
