What will the year 2025 bring us?  There’s a lot of reasons to think that it will be a good year.   I choose to think of it as a time of positive transformation. There are a couple of cultural factors that lead me to this view.

One – Chinese New Year starts on January 29 and it is the Year of the Snake. A snake sheds its skin so a new skin can grow.   We can’t move forward if we are stuck in our old ways. The year of the snake 2025 predicts this year will be a time to make plans, solve problems, and act strategically in all areas of life.  The year of the snake is known as a time for self-discovery that can lead to spiritual, personal, and social growth and creativity.  While it may have challenges to be overcome and relationships to heal, the year is predicted to allow us the opportunity to make consistent progress to overcome obstacles. The snake symbolizes wisdom and agility.  I was born in the year of the snake and am looking forward to this year as a renewed time of growing in positive ways in both my professional and personal lives.

Two – Each year is associated with a natural element (such as air, water, fire, etc.) and 2025 is associated with wood. Wood is associated with growth, tolerance, and flexibility in that it can become many different things to nurture us.  Wood is the element of fire, which represents change and vitality. 2025 is called the Year of the Wood Snake.  The last year that the wood snake was dominant was 1965 – and what a great year of social transformation that was!  It takes 60 years for the same animal sign to show up with the same element, so the year ahead is predicted to be pretty amazing.

Three – I was born on January 6, which is also known as Epiphany.  This date has been traditionally linked with the arrival of the Three Kings in Christian Christmas tradition.  It sadly has been associated with a political uprising where people broke into the US capital.  For me, I think Epiphany is a time of wonderfulness as it is related to someone having a sudden realization of something important that they never realized before.  That realization is eye-opening and can be life-changing as we see things that we never paid attention to before that can help lift us up to be our best selves.

As we work together to make the world as wonderful a place as we believe it could be, let’s embrace the knowledge of epiphany that the wood snake in 2025 offers us.
