On Saturday, October 7th, we look forward to once again presenting a Workshop on The World As It Could Be Program at the Teachers 4 Social Justice 2017 Conference.
We are excited to have Alejandra Romero and Tamara Ceballos as co-facilitators. Alejandra and Tamara, now seniors at Arroyo High School, were part of teacher Kay Zimmerman’s Developmental Psychology for Adolescents Class last year, which developed and presented the Arroyo Town Hall on the UDHR.
You can see Tamara’s poem via this excerpt from the performance.
In this excerpt, Alejandra is one of the performers helping dramatize Maya Angelou’s poem “Still I Rise.”
Alejandra and Tamara will help lead several of the Workshop activities, as well as describe their own experience of learning about the UDHR and using the creative arts to express ideas about its meaning to them.
Our Workshop, titled The World As It Could Be – Innovative Arts-Based Teaching of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), will take place 10:45 am – 12:30 p.m. in Room 206 of Mission High School. Please consider joining us and letting others know about the Conference.
