“Join us in conversation, exploration and hands-on activities to take back to your classroom. We’ll dive into the question, ‘How does engaging with culturally specific works of art from the Middle East open classroom conversations about inclusion and social justice?’
“This year, we take inspiration from Layla and Majnun, an ancient Middle Eastern love story performed by the Mark Morris Dance Group and The Silk Road Ensemble, with mugham vocalists Alim Qasimov and Fargana Qasimova. Saturday activities include a staged reading of the story, with poetry in the original Persian, directed by Golden Thread Productions artistic director Torange Yeghiazarian.”
